Welcoming a Seasoned Business Voice: Sushil Patel Joins Plumas Bank’s Board of Directors

Leading a growing and diverse banking institution requires both fresh perspectives and seasoned expertise; Sushil Patel will provide both as the newest member of Plumas Bank’s board of directors. Patel brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in the hospitality and lodging industries. Patel’s appointment underscores the bank's commitment to strategic leadership and will help continue to power the bank’s growth in northern Nevada and northeast California.  

Proven Success in Hospitality and Entrepreneurship

The hospitality industry is in Patel’s blood; his parents owned a small hotel near Lake Tahoe and every member of the family helped in some fashion. Growing up amidst the hustle and bustle of hotel management, Patel learned invaluable lessons in what makes a business successful. After graduating with his bachelor’s degree in business administration and public relations from California State University, Sacramento, Patel went into the hospitality business by acquiring and upgrading hotels. 

He is now the owner of Laxmi Hotels and is managing partner at Mountain West Builders. He has worked closely with Plumas Bank on financing numerous hotel projects and that perspective will benefit him in his role on the board. In 2022, Patel opened the new Hampton Inn & Suites in South Lake Tahoe, California. 

A Valuable New Voice

Having successfully built a strong portfolio of hospitality projects, Patel understands the regional economy and how northern Nevada and northeastern California have evolved in the last quarter century, as well as what the future is likely to bring.

Patel will apply his experience as a long-standing client of Plumas Bank to his new role to continue shaping the bank’s client-centered and problem-solving approach to banking.

In addition to his role on the board of directors for Plumas Bank and running multiple businesses, he serves on the Renown Health Foundation board where they focus on improving health outcomes in the region. Patel’s experience and fresh perspective is a welcomed addition to Plumas Bank’s leadership.
