  • Why is Bank of Feather River merging with Plumas Bank?

This is a significant opportunity for both Plumas Bank and Bank of Feather River to broaden and strengthen our footprint in the Yuba-Sutter community by combining two well-respected community banks whose core values and internal cultures are similar. By joining the banks together, all our customers will have access to expanded products and services, our shareholders will have the opportunity for increased value, and our local communities will continue to be supported.

Like Bank of Feather River, Plumas Bank is a community bank. Plumas Bank is dedicated to the local communities it serves and will continue to help fuel the success for local businesses, individuals and families, and local non-profit organizations. Learn more about Plumas Bank.

  • When will the name change to Plumas Bank and what does the merger mean for current clients of Bank of Feather River?

The merger is effective July 1, 2021. It's important to note that while Bank of Feather River will be owned and operated by Plumas Bank as of July 1, the conversion of your accounts over to Plumas Bank’s existing system will happen in November 2021.

Until November, your accounts as well as your online banking, bill pay and mobile app will remain the same. You will continue to see Bank of Feather River on your bank statements and notices that come in the mail. You’ll access online banking at the Bank of Feather River website, just as you always have. You’ll continue to use your same checks and debit cards.

You can expect to receive the same excellent, community-based services you've always received.
    •    The team you know and trust will continue serving you under the name Plumas Bank.
    •    Your favorite personal banker will still be available to assist you with your everyday banking needs.
    •    Your trusted loan officer will still be handling your loan - now with more tools in their toolbox.

Essentially, while you'll start seeing the Plumas Bank name and begin to learn more about Plumas Bank's network of services, you won't notice much difference in how you access your day-to-day banking. Our goal is to make this conversion as seamless as possible.

Starting Nov. 2021, you will have access to banking services at 14 branches across Northeastern California and Northern Nevada. The combined institutions will offer an enhanced line of personal and business banking products and services.

  • Will my favorite bankers still be here?

The Yuba City team you know and trust will continue to serve you under the name of Plumas Bank.

  • Will my FDIC insurance be affected by this merger?

FDIC insurance covers checking, savings and other deposit accounts up to a standard amount of $250,000 per account holder. Here is some important information regarding FDIC insurance when two banks merge:

Continuation of separate FDIC insurance  for deposits in merged institutions: When the deposit accounts of one insured depository institution (IDI) are acquired by another IDI, the newly acquired deposits are separately insured from any accounts a depositor may already have at the acquiring IDI for an initial period of six months. This grace period is intended to give depositors an opportunity to restructure their accounts if the merger causes a depositor to have funds in excess of the insurance limits at the acquiring IDI.

FDIC insurance for Certificate of Time Deposits (CDs) - CDs acquired by an insured depository institution (IDI) are separately insured from pre-existing deposit accounts at the IDI, subject to the following rules:

    1. Time deposits that mature after the six-month grace period remain separately insured until they mature.
    2. Time deposits that mature within the first six months after the merger and are renewed for the same time period and the same dollar amount as the original deposit (with or without accrued interest added to the principal amount), will continue to be separately insured until the first maturity date after the expiration of the six-month period.
    3. Time deposits that mature within the first six months after the merger and are renewed for a different dollar amount or a different time period (even if the acquiring IDI does not offer CDs for the original time period), or time deposits that mature within the first six months and are not renewed and thereby become regular savings or demand deposits, are separately insured only until the end of the six-month period.

You should also continue to make any loan payments as usual.

We will notify you in writing well in advance about any changes to your account(s) and services. Essentially, while you'll start seeing the Plumas Bank name and begin to learn more about Plumas Bank's network of services, you won't notice much difference in how you access your day-to-day banking.
