At Plumas Bank, our mission is to provide superior quality banking and investment services to meet the financial needs of families and businesses in Northeastern California and Northern Nevada.

There was once a time when you could walk into a bank and feel at home. A time when people knew you by name, not by number. We miss those times. From the first day we opened our doors, we have set out to rekindle the spirit of a neighborhood bank. Our people are dedicated to finding solutions to your financial needs and to helping you reach your financial goals. We pride ourselves on being able to offer all the services and high-tech support of a big bank. But we have never forgotten the importance of fostering that intangible quality of a local bank—sense of community.

Our History

In 1978, a small group of us had a vision—to create a bank that was operated by and for the members of the Plumas County community. By the end of 1980, we realized our dream with the opening of the first Plumas Bank in Quincy.

From there we grew steadily. In 1981 we opened our second office in downtown Portola. By 1985 we constructed a branch in Greenville and acquired the Wells Fargo branch in Quincy. After expanding into Susanville, Chester and Lassen County in 1987 and 1988, we saw our assets top the $100 million mark.

Still, we kept expanding. We opened our seventh branch in Alturas in 1994. With the acquisition of two Bank of America branches in Chester and Fall River Mills in 1998, our assets grew to over $200 million.

Our success has not gone unrecognized. Findley & Associates, a nationally renowned consulting firm, has named Plumas Bank a Premier Performing Bank for the last 12 years.

Where We Are Today

Despite our remarkable growth, Plumas Bank remains an independently owned and locally managed bank. We continue to recognize that our most important assets are our customers, employees, and stockholders, and realize that without them, our success never would have been possible.

As one of Northeastern California’s largest private employers—with over 200 employees—Plumas Bank contributes over $4 million to the area’s economy, through payroll, philanthropy and local purchasing.

We currently operate 13 offices and 4 independent ATM sites to serve the banking and investment needs of businesses and families throughout Plumas, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Placer, Nevada and Sierra Counties.  Plumas Bank also operates a commercial real estate loan office in Reno Nevada. As always, our motto of “Local people serving local needs” serves as our guiding ideal.
